Lyrics
In Dorico Pro, the term lyrics is used for all text that is sung by singers.
Lyric hyphens and lyric extender lines
Lyric hyphens indicate that individual lyrics are syllables within multi-syllabic words; for example, Hal-le-lu-jah. Lyric extender lines indicate that individual lyrics, either whole words or the last syllables in multi-syllabic words, extend across multiple notes.

You can change whether all lyric extensions project-wide appear as extender lines or with Japanese hyphens at each notehead.

You can change whether all lyric extensions project-wide appear as extender lines or with Japanese hyphens at each notehead.

Procedure

Press Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-E to open Engraving Options.
In the category list, click Lyrics.
In the Extender Lines section, activate/deactivate Use Japanese hyphens instead of extender line.
Click Apply, then Close.

Japanese hyphens are shown at each notehead when the option is activated. Extender lines are shown when the option is deactivated.
