Saving custom project templates

You can save the current project as a project template from which you can start future projects. For example, if you regularly create projects that require the same players, page templates, and default settings.

Prerequisite

The current project contains all the players, flows, project information, and project library settings that you want in your custom project template.

Procedure

  1. Choose File > Save As Project Template to open the Save As Project Template dialog.
  2. In the Category field, enter the project template category in which you want to save your new project template.

When you start entering a project template category, a menu appears that shows existing project template categories containing the letters/words you enter. You can select one of these, or you can enter a new project template category.

  3. In the Name field, enter a name for your new project template.

If you enter the same name as an existing project template, Dorico Pro shows a warning icon and message.

  4. Activate/Deactivate Preserve existing flows.
  5. Activate/Deactivate Preserve Project Info.

Result

The current project is saved as a project template in the selected project template category and becomes available for starting new projects. If you entered the same name as an existing project template, the new project template replaces the existing one.

  • If you activated Preserve existing flows, flows in the current project, including the music in them, are included in the project template.

  • If you activated Preserve Project Info, all information entered in the Project Info dialog is included in the project template.
