Write mode
Write mode allows you to input and edit your music, including changing the rhythmic positions of items, changing the pitch of notes, and deleting notes and items. The available toolboxes and panels allow you to input all the notes and notation items that are most commonly used.

Dorico Pro distinguishes the processes for inputting and editing music.
Enabling/Disabling MIDI thru
You can enable/disable MIDI thru at any time. For example, you can enable MIDI thru during note input to hear sounds from your MIDI keyboard, but disable MIDI thru during playback to hear the sounds produced by Dorico Pro.

Procedure

Press Ctrl/Cmd-, to open Preferences.
In the category list, click Play.
In the Recording subsection, activate/deactivate Enable MIDI thru.
Click Apply, then Close.

Result

The setting is changed in the current project and for all future projects.

Tip

You can assign a key command for Toggle MIDI Thru on the Key Commands page in Preferences.
