Different notations are used to show where the established rhythmic flow of the music is interrupted, either with a moment of repose or a short silence, before continuing. The most subtle effect is produced by a tenuto mark, with more significant effects denoted with holds and pauses.

Dorico SE uses a combination of changing note durations and inserting gaps to reflect all types of fermatas, breath marks, and caesuras in playback.

Prerequisite

The lower zone is shown.
Properties is selected in the lower zone toolbar.

Procedure

Select the caesuras whose playback gap duration you want to change.
In the Properties panel, activate/deactivate Gap duration % in the Holds and Pauses group.
Change the value in the value field.

Result

The gap duration of the selected caesuras in playback is changed.

You can also edit the playback of individual caesuras in the Tempo editor.
