Dynamics indicate the loudness of the music and can be combined with expressive text to give further clarification about how to perform the music. Dynamics can indicate an immediate change in volume or a gradual change over a specified duration.
Dynamics in playback
The volume settings for sustaining instruments and non-sustaining instruments vary in terms of their control of gradual dynamics.
Enabling/Disabling polyphonic voice balancing
Dorico Elements can identify melodies and bass notes in polyphonic music, and emphasize them by different amounts relative to any remaining accompanying notes. You can enable/disable rules for contrapuntal music project-wide, and change how much they affect the dynamic level.

Procedure

Press Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-P to open Playback Options.
In the category list, click Dynamics.
In the Polyphonic Instruments section, activate/deactivate Use automatic polyphonic instrument voice balancing.
Optional: If you activated Use automatic polyphonic instrument voice balancing, change the values of the available options.
Click Apply, then Close.
