The Decompose function allows you to split your samples into their noise and tonal components.

The Decompose function allows you to mix the noise and the tonal components of samples individually. This can be used to change the level of the snares of a snare drum, for example.

The Decompose function allows you to mix the noise and the tonal components of samples individually. This can be used to change the level of the snares of a snare drum, for example.

Prerequisite

You have selected the layer that you want to decompose.

Procedure

Click Prelisten.
Modify the mix by adjusting the Tonal Level and Noise Level parameters.
When you are satisfied with the mix, activate Mix and click Apply.

Result

The modified mix of the two components replaces the original sample in the layer slot. The corresponding file is saved with the extension “_mix”.

Note

If a sample with the same name already exists at the save location, a number is added to the file name. No sample files are overwritten by the Decompose function.
